FreeSWITCH is the number one Software Defined Telecom Framework and VoIP platform

BCL provides FreeSWITCH Consultation Services ranging from small business needs to carrier provider deployment.

FreeSWITCH is a scalable open source cross-platform telephony platform designed to route and interconnect popular communication protocols using audio, video, text or any other form of media. It was created in 2006 to fill the void left by proprietary commercial solutions. FreeSWITCH also provides a stable telephony platform on which many applications can be developed using a wide range of free tools. FreeSWITCH was originally designed and implemented by Anthony Minessale II with the help of Brian West and Michael Jerris. All 3 are former developers of the popular Asterisk open source PBX.

BCL brings more than 10 years of experience in providing high quality FreeSWITCH support companies and voice carriers. We offer several support and SLA contracts ranging from per incident projects to enterprise class Service Level Agreements.

Here are the ways you can utilize FreeSWITCH in your environment

FreeSWITCH as Office PBX or Phone System

Customers are using FreeSWITCH as a business phone system to replace proprietary systems such as Avaya, Cisco and Nortel. The hardware and software licenses to implement this system can cost thousands of dollars and locks you into their solution where adding additional features to support an Auto Attendant or Call Center will cost you additional licensing fees. Using FreeSWITCH as a PBX often triggers the conversation of Asterisk versus FreeSWITCH. If you are going through this dilemma let us help you make the right decision. One of our engineers can get on the phone with you and review your requirements and infrastructure to help you decide which telephony platform you should use. In some cases, you might want to use a combination of both.

FreeSWITCH as a SBC/Media Gateway

Many of our customers are using FreeSWITCH as a session border controller (SBC). A SBC is deployed on the edge of a VoIP network to exert control over how VoIP traffic enters and leaves the network. Here are some of features that FreeSWITCH can provide a SBC:

  • Ability to hide the topology of your VoIP network
  • Encryption of voice traffic (BOTH media and signalling)
  • Protocol translations between SIP and other protocols
  • Traffic policing and routing
  • LCR and Rate Limiting
